Jim Williamson, a third-generation auto retailer and former President of the Motor Vehicle Retailers of Ontario has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. The Coronation Medal is awarded to individuals who have made notable contributions to Canada or to a specific province, territory, region, or community.
“It is a tremendous honour to be recognized alongside so many dedicated individuals who are making a difference in our community,” said Williamson. “While this award is presented to individuals, I wholeheartedly accept it on behalf of the incredible associations, boards, foundations, community groups, teams, and families that I have had the privilege of working alongside. Their dedication and hard work are what truly drive positive change. I look forward to continuing this important work together for generations to come.”
Williamson is the Dealer Principal and Partner of Williamson Chrysler and Williamson GM Uxbridge. Aside from running those dealerships, he has volunteered to serve and champion the auto retail industry. Positions he’s held include President of the Motor Vehicle Retailers of Ontario in 2024, President of the Canadian International Auto Show in 2025 and he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association.
Williamson is also a fierce advocate for better health care services and the construction of a new hospital in his hometown of Uxbridge. He joined the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation Board in 2019 and currently serves as Board Chair. In 2022, he took on the role of chairing the campaign cabinet for Oak Valley Health’s new Uxbridge Hospital.
Williamson’s passion for hockey played a pivotal role in his fundraising efforts. In October 2024, he organized the first-ever Uxbridge Hospital Celebrity Hockey Classic, which saw over 450 local hockey enthusiasts and NHL alumni players come together. The event surpassed its fundraising goal of $200,000, raising an unprecedented $500,000 for the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation – the highest amount ever raised at a community event.
“Jim Williamson’s dedication to both the auto industry and his community is truly inspiring,” said Todd Bourgon, CEO of MVRO. “On behalf of Ontario’s 1,100 new car and truck retailers, we send our heartfelt congratulations to Jim on being recognized by King Charles III. It’s a well-deserved honour.”
Williamson received the Coronation Medal from Jennifer O’Connell, the Member of Parliament for Pickering-Uxbridge at an event in Uxbridge on March 22, 2025.
In 2022, Williamson received the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award recognizing extraordinary volunteers and leaders who emulate Queen Elizabeth II’s dedication to serving others.
