What do you find most rewarding about working in the automotive industry?
I love the connections and relationships we get to make with our customers and partners. I love working in a fast-paced environment and an always evolving industry that’s driven by technology. CARFAX Canada is always on top of automotive trends, and I love that we play a role in helping both consumers and dealers make informed decisions – not just about vehicle purchases, but so much more!
What initially attracted you to pursue a career in this field?
I had some friends who were working at CARFAX Canada tell me how amazing the company is. They had nothing but good things to say about it! When I heard about an opening within the Sales team, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve always felt a strong connection to the automotive industry, as my dad has spent his entire career working in service. Growing up, we regularly attended car shows, races, and other automotive events, which sparked and nurtured my lifelong passion for the automotive industry.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced in your role, and how have you overcome them?
Being a woman in a male-dominated industry can be challenging. You aren’t always respected or heard the same as a male might be. I believe it’s important to trust yourself, lean into your knowledge, and always move with confidence.
Do you have any advice for someone considering a career in automotive?
The industry is always evolving, so it’s important to stay adaptable and keep learning. Networking and mentorship are powerful ways to grow, build connections, and gain new insights. Don’t hesitate to speak up, ask questions, and seek support when you need it.
Is there anything you wish someone had told you as you started your career in automotive?
I wish someone had told me just how quickly technology and the industry would evolve – and how important it would be to stay on your toes and welcome all opportunities to learn more. The automotive industry has many layers. It’s not just about cars and manufacturing; it’s also about evolving technology, data, and shifting customer and market preferences.
