The MVRO and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) have partnered to provide you with resources to help customers properly install an EV charger at their home.
The ESA is an administrative authority acting on behalf of the Government on Ontario, and exists to make sure that everyone in Ontario is safeguarded from electrical harm through education, regulation and compliance.
With EVs becoming more popular, how to properly charge them at home is a question most new car retailers receive. Since not all manufacturers take an end-to-end approach to helping dealers and customers set up home charging, these resources will help.
There are real risks when it comes to not installing an EV’s charger correctly. Those risks range from fires that can cause damage to the vehicle, home, to potentially endangering the lives of loved ones. This media report highlights the real world dangers of improperly installed chargers.
The ESA has several free resources to help you and your sales staff offer the information your customers need to ensure their EV will be cared for at home, in the safest manner possible, ultimately resulting in satisfied customers who feel educated and supported. This, in turn, can lead to positive reviews, referrals and a five-star rating.
While the attached resources are digital, physical copies can be ordered and will be sent to you free of charge on a first come first served basis by visiting: https://esasafe.com/EVdealers.
In addition, if you have any questions about EV safety, feel free to reach out to ESA.Communications@electricalsafety.on.ca
Sincerely,
Frank Notte
Director of Government Relations
